This is the first chapter of my novel, The Stormer, a romantic comedy set in Glasgow. The entire book is available in paperback and on Kindle from Amazon. I might record the rest but it requires a ton of time and effort so bear with me.
Anyway, the story - struggling artist, High, thinks he's finally made it when he's commissioned to paint a gable-end wall in his native city. He paints a nude tribute to his first love, Davina, who he hasn't seen for years, only to discover she's now married to a senior policeman who's none too happy to see his wife revealed.

    1. Hi Gurmeet. If I can give you my technical appraisal – the sound quality seems patchy to me. There’s a hiss on some of your hard consonants and S sounds in particular, and the levels seem to change abruptly at times. I don’t know how to get rid of hissing, as I’m guessing it depends on your software & hardware mix, but it may be that your recording level is too high? The abrupt shifts in levels might be from stopping & starting on your recording, with slightly different levels, distance and direction from mic, etc? I have the same thing on my own effort and I’m trying o figure how to get consistency in my future attempts. I suspect that being very careful to replicate as closely as possible recording conditions from one session to the next will be part of the solution – but even then I’ve noticed that my tone and volume when reading can vary significantly from one session to the next. I’m not sure if these issues can be resolved post recording in audacity, as I know there is noise reduction etc in it’s toolkit, but I’d be interested to know if you find a solution, so I can apply it to my own work! I have just focused on the technical issues as I feel they got in the way somewhat of me properly listening to the work.
